GET READY NOW!

A college prep program in high school is a good beginning for a prospective MCS major. Advanced math and computer courses are a plus, but not required. Communication and leadership skills are extremely important. Program proficiency tests are available for students who have had previous training in programming and computer skills. In some cases, the tests count as credit earned toward the program.

Suggested program for MCS core technical courses include:

Freshman/Sophomore Year:
*Introduction to Object Oriented Programming (COMPSCI 172)
*Introduction Database and the Web(COMPSCI 181)
Sophomore/Junior Year:
*Concepts of Programming
*Information Technology Concepts and Practice
Junior/Senior Year:
*Web Development 1 and 2
*Systems Analysis and Design 1 and 2
